Moose Cupcakes

I threw a birthday party for my husband and decided that I wanted to make something non-traditional for him. So instead of a cake, I made these moose cupcakes! Everything on the moose is made out of chocolate, candy, and frosting.

Dachshund Cupcakes

Rescue is a big part of my life. I am a volunteer for Almost Home Rescue of Maine. I foster dogs until they find their new homes.

At one of our adoption events, there was a bake sale - so I made these cupcakes! I have two dachshunds of my own, so I couldn't resist these. They are four cupcakes long and completely edible. The ears, faces, and tails are made out of chocolate sugar cookies. The dog bones are graham crackers, and the rest of the details are either candy or frosting. In the center of each cupcake is a fun-size candy bar.

Note:
Please visit the rescue's website! The dogs I foster, as well as the rest of the dogs currently in foster homes, are listed - and looking for their forever homes!

My First Cake

In June, I threw a bridal shower for my sister-in-law to be. I had recently become interested in cake decorating, and this event gave me the motivation to try it out.

I started it a week in advance by making the bow out of gum paste. The rest of the outer layer is fondant including the ribbon and polka dots. I used a bit of shimmer dust on the ribbons to make them appear more like satin. The cake and buttercream are flavored with fresh orange zest, and the sugar syrup was flavored with Grand Marnier and fresh orange zest. Then, I layered it with marzipan and fondant.

It was a hit at the shower, and I can't wait to make my next cake!
